Yesterday whilst me and Mai were waiting for Jodie we went to Hoam Kiem Lakewhere a magical turtle took the sword of the gods back from the general who saved Vietnam from the Mongols and prayed at the temple.
When Jodie arrived we decided to explore even though she was really tired. Cos Mai and I had been here for a day already, we thought we were Pro's and decided we would show her the lake! 3 hours later after getting hopelessly lost and having a meal in what i think must have been a gay bar/resturant as there were only men there (other than mai and Jodie) and the waiter kept touching me up we bumped into another lost English dude we all found the lake and were just in time for a Water Puppet show which was cool. Basically there is a live vietnamese orchestra who play the music whilst puppets on the water tell traditional Vietnameses stories. A pretty cool experience all in all.
Went to see Ho Chi Minh at his massive mausaleam! Really weird cos he's in a glass crystal coffin and you all walk past him. Theres guards with bayonets fixed who are really strict i was told off 3 times!!! Woops. It was really freaky to see this little old man lying in this glass coffin like he was asleep, freaked me out a lil bit, but Mai was fine with it, (shows who's the brave one in our relationship) Then we went to Ho Chi Minhs house and temple which was great! For a Communist leader he lived in some style, let me tell you, massive palm and mango trees, a big lake full of massive fish and absolute luxury everywhere. We sorted our tour to Ha long Bay today. 3 days and 2nights for $80, with 3breakfasts, 3 lunches and 2 dinners, with transfers kayaking a night on the boat and a night on the Island, it almost seems to good to be true, but we've heard some good reviews from other people so hopefully will be ok!!!
